Sophie is such a strong woman and even though Rafe is a billionaire she isn't fazed by his money and stands up for herself when she needs to. I love to read about strong females and caring alpha men. Rafe is used to getting what he wants and he's ready to settle down. It was endearing to read about how much he starts to care for Sophie in such a short time and how he immediately knows he has found his match. There's an obstacle though, Sophie is scared he won't understand her choices and I was wishing for her to find the courage to trust this amazing man. Kris Pearson knows how to write an addictive and compelling love story. She's a new author for me and I already can't wait to read more of her books.

This book is hot! I wish it was longer and available in paperback, but it's kind of hard to hold it against the story. Both Rafe and Sophie are stubborn. Both know they can't get involved with anyone, yet are trying really hard to fight their attractions to each other.
I've never read anything by Kris Pearson before, but now that I have, I know I'll be reading more of her books in the future.
Last year I read a series that took place in New Zealand and I am becoming a fast lover of all things New Zealand! I love this tropical paradise and the vibrancy of what it has to offer. I've fallen in love with the culture, people, and pride of what family really means. I'm ready to move!!! this story was great. The character's chemistry was believable, the content was good, and I liked the character development. You really got to know both Rafe and Sophia and why they reacted the way they did towards each other and those around them. I wanted more! I wish the book were longer and wanted things to be better explained in the Epilogue WARNING THIS IS A SPOILER TO DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DON;T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING OF THE BOOK. I wanted to know how it was that at the Cammie's birthday party, Rafe's parents were there. How did that happen?!?!?! This could've ben another 5 chapter as to how that all came to be. Also what ever happens with Faye and all her ugliness?
Over all I enjoyed the book and feel that it could be another series to add to my collection. Definitely a good book to read for a trip.

I picked up this book when scouring for books set in New Zealand. It's the first I've read by this author so I was super excited. Too much so, perhaps?
The first 60% of the story was a rather long, slow trudge for me. The part about her daughter irked me, and ironically ended up saving the story in my eyes. The last 30% of the story bumped this up from an average read (3 stars) to a very good story (4 stars)
FOOTNOTE, which didn't factor into my rating. Okay, perhaps it did a tinsy-tiny bit.
Although the story is set in NZ, the terminology is not always authentic! While it irked me that terms like Mom instead of Mum were used, I understand the majority of readers are from the US so the author is probably trying to cater to them
A chance meeting between Rafe and Sophie turns into a beautiful relationship, but, can it withstand the secret that Sophie is keeping? Rafe helps Sophie with her sign for her new business. Little did he know that she used to work for his ex-wife and has now branched out on her own. Rafe has finally decided it is time to decorate and finish his home. He hires Sophie to do that. The more they work together, the more the attraction grows. Sophie knows that she should not mix business with pleasure and also knows that she should not mix it because she hasn't told Rafe about her daughter. Sophie's daughter lives with her mom for the time being because she is trying to get on her feet with her business. Once she starts establishing herself, she will bring her daughter "home". She is afraid to tell this to Rafe because his own parents didn't want him and he was raised by his grandparents. Can Rafe forgive Sophie for keeping this secret? The attraction between them is intense and their relationship that they've built is beautiful. It's a great story of starting over and love.
