In the winter of 1449, Jane Blackwell agrees to marry a man she has never met. Whisked away to a home filled with dark secrets, the fearful young girl is left to adapt to a mercurial man who answers to no-one.
Even were it not for Rufus Fairfax, the duke Le Greniere’s murky history, his current business dealings seem to be shadowy at best. As Jane catches him in half-truths and outright lies, she begins to suspect him of skullduggery to devious ends. Yet, Jane herself is hiding many secrets with no desire to divulge them to her unsuspecting husband.
However, with England coming to a fever pitch of political unrest, the couple has a limited amount of time before they either reveal their secrets or face complete ruin.
So Many Secrets edition by Olene Quinn Literature Fiction eBooks
Why I give a 4 star rating, though I have quite fundamental criticism is, because the character of the heroine awakens sympathy and her story remains well developed and with a good tension ark throughout the book. Her weaknesses cause the readers empathy and she bravely stands up for what she loves. At first, I had been interested in the book because of its time setting, but the historical background is erroneous, to say it in the most favourable way.
I for some time even thought the author tried to create a sample book for grave historical errors you should avoid in a historical novel, as whenever a historical reference or social backdrop was put into the story line, it was wrong and impossible for the time of the book.
To find e.g. newspapers, pocket watches and chocolate, long before they even were invented / found and a culture, literacy and social behaviour more likely in 18th century society than in the 15th century, just need to be ignored to enjoy the story about the heroine.
While the author clearly has writing talent, she did not do any historical research for the book.
So don't take this book up if you want to read about the late Plantagenets and the pre-story of the Wars of the Roses or want to get an idea of the time. You won't find anything useful concerning history in this book.

So Many Secrets edition by Olene Quinn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I haven't read it yet so I can not write a review on it as yet but when I do, I will let you know
I will start by saying that I idea behind this story is good. The characters could have been better developed. The author has done little if any research. The language, geography and descriptions of place were inconsistant and definitely not from the 15th century. The lack of consistency was a distraction to what could have been a good read.
